The SXS octopus is the new ultra-compact second stage produced by Mares. The SXS second stage is one of the most compact second stages on the market. The SXS octopus is incredibly compact and light. SXS is the acronym for Second eXtra Small which wants to emphasize the extreme lightness and compactness of this second stage.
Thanks to its versatility, the SXS octopus is an excellent choice for any type of dive. In fact, with a couple of simple operations, the user can easily change the configuration of this octopus himself and use it with a whip coming from the right or left side. Its slim and compact shape allows the octopus to easily fit into a BCD pocket.
The Mares SXS octopus is equipped with a curved bypass with an increased diameter, which offers a high air flow. This unique feature, combined with Mares’ patented Vortex Assisted Design (VAD), provides divers with comfortable airflow at any depth. Mares has also designed a new Deflector to optimize the Venturi effect and reduce the risk of self-delivery, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable inhalation effort even at depths greater than 100m.
